Chronology of cameras Eaton
The Eaton Company was the largest Canadian mail-order business. It was founded in 1869 by an Irish immigrant, Timothy Eaton. Mail-order operations began with the first catalog in 1884, which eventually grew to have up to 900 pages. The company ceased its operations in 1976 and went bankrupt in 1999. It was acquired by Sears in the same year, but Sears also faced financial difficulties and withdrew from the Canadian market in 2002.
Within the Eaton catalog, there were a few pages dedicated to photography. Cameras were either sold under their original brand names (Ansco, ...) or under the TECO (Timothy Eaton's Company) manufacturing brand. The generic name Eaton Emerald Camera was used for various different camera models.

Le nom Eaton Emerald Camera apparaît sur une plaque ronde, en laiton, rivetée sur le côté, mais un appareil identique est présent page 243 du catalogue Eaton de 1913. Il s'appelle Folding Teco N° 6. Sur la même page il y a d'autres foldings appelés Eaton Emerald Camera au même format mais d'aspect différent. on peut supposer que Eaton Emerald Camera est un nom générique à tout ou partie des appareils distribués par Teco sous sa marque.
C'est un folding au format dit Carte Postale. Les négatifs (8 x 14 cm) ont un ratio largeur / hauteur qui se prête à la photo de paysage. Le type de film est le 122.
La détermination du fabricant de ce Teco est compliquée. La comparaison avec d'autres modèles au fabricant clairement identifié nous met sur une piste.
L'utilisation de l'obturateur français The Newest de G. Grégoire est rare, mais existe de la part de fabricants étrangers comme Thornton Pickard. Autre ressemblance avec des appareils de cette marque, le chariot et la plaque qui supporte l'obturateur et l'objectif se retrouvent à l'identique.
Sur cet exemplaire, il manque l'échelle des distances sur l'abattant (les trous des vis de fixation sont présents).
